How the maths works
Each month: balance = balance × (1 + return / 1200) × (1 − annual fee / 1200) + contribution. The same fixed hypothetical total return applies every month. End-year income equals end-year balance × distribution yield; this is a potential income-rate illustration, not an additional return added to the portfolio. Portfolio growth assumes all returns remain invested. Inflation adjustment divides the future value by (1 + inflation / 100)^years.
Fixed rates cannot reflect volatility, sequences of poor returns, changing contributions, trading costs or taxes. Distribution yield and total return must not be added together.
